10 Things I am ignoring

1.  Groans—this happens quite a bit at meal times or anytime school needs to be done by the youngest male in the family.

2.  Clutter—we need to work on our zones today.  The weekend really made a mess of the living room.

3.  A green fish tank—enough said

4.  My kitchen floor—this is the one job I never got Megan trained on for her chore.  So it hasn’t been done since December.  It is a must do this week.

5.  The calendar—Our next 12 weekends gets crazy.  Only 3 will be at home.  Yikes!  Bible Quizzing takes over our Saturdays this time of year.  Fun trip, practices, & Nationals!

6.  Dishes to return—kind friends and neighbors brought us food.  Now I need to return them so I have some counter space again.

7.  Thank you notes—to send with the above dishes

8.  SNOW—it is everywhere & NOT melting yet

9.  Sore muscles—walking is challenging.  My muscles are NOT happy.  I think they are on strike so I am still sitting a lot & rolling around in my desk chair for school.

10.  Papers to grade—this one is really hanging over my head.  I will spend time on this . . . . . . later today.

Weekend busyness

KimComment

Welcome to the blog if you are hopping over!

I sometimes wonder if I am just rambling here & if anyone reads through our day to day stuff.  I love comments about our family’s blog, pictures or posts I have put up, so speak up!

First time visitors, welcome & I would love for you to follow our adventures.  I am glad that you are back if you’ve been by before!

So around here we are pretty sick of the snow.  Guess what?  We could be getting even more in the next couple of days.  Sigh.

Kids made some pretty cool tunnels and had a spur of the moment snowball fight this evening.

We traveled to Lee’s Summit today for a Bible Quiz

P1110138

The kids & hubby did great and I hopped around and got a million questions about the crutches.  I won’t rehash the whole story here.  Only 2 more days!!!

Tomorrow will be a fun day of worship, a carry-in dinner(yum!) and then a Super Bowl Party.  Wow this weekend sure is packed for our family.

What are you doing with your weekend?

I stood in my kitchen today and baked some yummy bread.  I haven’t gotten to be creative in the kitchen for a month.  I’ve missed it.

It’s February and I don’t have a calendar up.  I finished making one on Shutterfly today.  It has all the birthday’s for both sides of the family on it.  WOW that is a lot of birthdays.  Going to get it printed this week.

Everyone is home tonight.  Michael said 3 days of being snowed in with a bunch of crazy guys was enough.  He had to get out and come home.  Love that.

My boys are playing games at the table

Finished studying with my girls for tomorrow’s Bible Quiz.

Best of all I only have 3 days left on crutches.  I cannot tell you how happy I am for that.  I am glad for a busy weekend so I won’t have time to be frustrated it by it.  The time should fly.  Happy Weekend!

Peanut Butter and Banana Bread

Kim1 Comment

MMMMmmmm

This is baking in my oven right now.  I am a sucker for anything peanut butter & if you throw in chocolate well I am pretty defenseless.  A dear friend sent a loaf of this home with me before surgery.  It was delicious & so we are making some to have at a carry in Super Bowl Party(if it makes it that long).  Enjoy!

Peanut Butter and Banana Bread

2 1/2 cups flour

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 T baking powder

3/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp cinnamon

2 ripe large bananas, mashed (1 cup)

1 cup milk

1/4 cup peanut butter

3 T cooking oil

1 tsp vanilla

1 egg slightly beaten

6-oz pkg milk chocolate pieces (1 cup)

Recipe for Peanut Butter frosting

In a large mixing bowl stir together flour, sugars, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.  In another bowl combine mashed bananas, milk, peanut butter, oil, vanilla and egg.  Add to flour mixture, stirring just until combined.  Stir in chocolate pieces.  Pour in to two greased loaf pan.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 50-55 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.  Cool in pans for 10 minutes.  Remove from pans; cool for thoroughly on a wire rack.  Wrap and store overnight before serving.  To serve, frost with Peanut Butter Frosting.  Top with Chocolate Chips.

Peanut Butter Frosting

In a small saucepan melt 3 T peanut butter and 2 T Butter.  Remove from heat; stir in 1 cup powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla.  Stir in 1 T milk.  Add more milk, if necessary, until it is of spreading consistency.

I will post a picture when it is frosted—it disappeared to fast earlier to snap a photo!

20 years and counting

Yep today is Groundhog Day.  In the US that means we watch a groundhog to know how long we have until spring.  Kinda silly isn’t it.  But hey winter will make you do things like that.

Another silly things is that I got married on Groundhog Day.

Steve likes it.  He never forgets when our anniversary is that way.

Usually we don’t spend our anniversary together because he’s working & I am home schooling/corralling our young’ins.  But God arranged it this special year that we could be home together.  Well sort of—he’s outside shoveling a ton of snow off our driveway.  That and making snow tunnels with the kids.  I am kind of jealous.

That is saying something because I don’t really appreciate the cold or snow.  But it looks fun from the window.

I cannot even begin to write a blog post that would do justice to the love I have for my husband.  He is kind, loving, hardworking & above all loves Jesus with all his heart.  He is continually striving to grow and become the man God wants him to become.  I am so thankful for the first 20 years we’ve had together and I eagerly anticipate the adventures we will have in the next 20.

And because sometimes pictures speak louder than words. . .
