Sick of being sick

Kim BrushComment

When momma's sick the world grinds to a halt.

Or it feels that way.

I've had a nasty cold since Saturday.  No cooking, no school, no cleaning, nothing going on here.  Joshua has it too.  Worst part is the brain just doesn't work so even computer work is exhausting.

This is really hard because the weather has finally turned nice and I haven't even felt like being outside.  So instead of trimming apple tree branches & getting my garden ready to plant, I'm dreaming of seeds and enjoying the breeze from the front porch.

I did walk to the mailbox yesterday and around the perimeter of our yard.  See the confused pups?  I was over the invisible fence line.  They really don't understand why I go past it.  It is  scary.

Praying I'm back to normal soon.

It feels like Christmas . . . .

Everyone slept in today and many are still wandering around in the pjs.  No plans today.  Church was canceled because of the 7 inches of snow on the ground.  Sad that we missed the fellowship of our church family but grateful to get to sleep in.  And yes this photo looks JUST like the one from last week.  I swear they are different.  I REALLY tired of the snow.  COME on SPRING!

We traveled may miles the past two days.  Spent what felt like a week in Waterloo, Iowa but it was truly only 36 hours from start to finish.

My kids are involved in Bible Quizzing and the Regional competition was Friday and Saturday.  It's a crazy trip.  We left Friday at 10, drove 5 hours.  Got settled at the hotel.  Quizzed 4ish hours.  Got back to hotel.  Slept 4-5 hours.  Back to quizzing for 4-5 more hours.  Got lunch and drove home.

Like I said crazy.  Tiredness rules here right now.

It was such a blessing to hear scripture from Acts being quizzed over by all these teens who love Jesus.  Now we start the road to National's in April--headed to Pittsburgh, PA.

Friends for life

My kids have made life long friends through quizzing.  My oldest married a team mate.  God's word is cemented in their minds and mine.

It was worth the craziness and lack of sleep. (I keep telling myself this--lol)

Quizzing is such a blessing to our family.

Winter & Homeschooling

January.  Snow & cold.

February.  Snow & more cold

Almost March?  I am SO ready for spring.  Many years I am ready in January.  This year hasn't been as bad for some reason.  We fill our days with school, Bible Quizzing, and daily life.  As you can see below Joshua is studying the human body.  Fun stuff!

School has been on and off.  There's been illness here which makes things fun.  I've finally got my energy back after the surgery in December to replace my cornea so that is AWESOME!  Now if we could just see some green grass & be able to sit outside on the porch that would be perfect.

(excuse the phone picture--at dusk is NOT the time to catch a great picture but that's often when I'm sitting on the porch watching the sunset)

I'm working on my patience with the weather.  What are you doing to fill these winter days?

Recipe Notebook Pages

THM, HomemakingKim BrushComment

Last week I posted about how helpful my new Recipe Notebooks have been in keeping me organized.  I need a paper copy of our "Family Favorites" so I don't have to go to Pinterest or another website every time I get ready to fix a snack or a meal.  My big 3 ring binder was bursting at the seams and this has been the perfect winter project as I look outside and dream of green grass and flowers!

Once I got my notebooks from Staples I was ready to put the recipes together so they were neat and tidy.  I created my format then got to work copy and pasting from Pinterest.

Here is the finished product.

I'm so close to being able to make these available for others to use!  It is so fun to create something useful!  These are 5 x 8 inch size but I'm working on a 8.5x11 inch size for those who want a larger notebook.

Here are a few previews of the section pages!

Stay tuned.  Follow my Facebook page so you don't miss when these are available.
