Being Thankful in the midst of Imperfection

Kim Brush4 Comments

We host a small group gathering at our home every Sunday night.  Our church calls them community groups and we study a topic or discuss the sermon but mainly we gather around our table and share a meal.  Last night I learned a lesson from one of the men who attends.  He helped me to be thankful in the middle of our home’s imperfection.

RASPBERRIES! Don’t you love them? And DESSERT? Gotta love it too!  Please run and make this raspberry dessert recipe with a super yummy sauce that just zings in your mouth!

Do you know what my biggest problem with raspberries is? Buying them. They are so very expensive! We have solved that problem by growing them ourselves.  Just a few plants can give you an abundant harvest!  Here's what I picked today (after not picking for several days) and what we have in the freezer! Crazy but I love it!!!

4 real life lessons that your children need!

Ahhhhh September is here.  Back to school.  Cool nights.  Finishing the garden.  So many happy things.  School is definitely back underway here and it is fun trying to make our homeschool special for our youngest as he is the only one around these days.  It struck me as I was working on curriculum and lesson plans that I need to make sure to be intentional in the “real” life lessons that my child needs.

Maybe you are in the same boat.  It takes being intentional about our goals and what we want to teach our kids.

Gardening without work: How to get rid of weeds

The excitement of spring and planting the seeds and seedlings is over. We are in the long haul of August and the summer garden. I won’t kid you. It’s NOT easy to do a garden in the late summer.

It’s hot. The bugs seem to be winning. The weeds have not given up the war. But I am winning against the weeds in the garden!

Seeing the produce on the plants in the garden keeps my motivation going for just a little longer.
